Clutterbuck is my great grandmother’s family name. It was altered from the Flemish name “de la Cloerterbooke” hailing from the county of Flanders. During the 13th and 14th centuries, the Flemish were given royal permission to visit England to buy wool.

A large number of these visitors remained in the British Isles and dominated the trades of paper-making, publishing, glass-blowing, glove-making, and weaving. Today the Clutterbuck range includes wool runners for sideboards, love letter pouches, pebbles to hold your treasures, peg loom trivets and cards.

Pebbles. Recognizable by the neutral colorways, we offer hollow felted pebbles that have soothing qualities. We encourage you to hold them in the palms of your hands - the way you might embrace a cup of tea. You will find that each one has a spot that will nestle into the curve of your palm and provide a sense of calm. You can also add a spritz of your favorite essential oil, include your most precious trinket, or let them be a special holder for your goals and intentions.

Interiors. Runners, curtain panels and footstools. I work with both mill processed wool and raw fleece. I source the fleece during shearing time, working with farmers and fiber producers. Small operations name each of their sheep, but some of the larger farms and ranches tend to only name the bottle babies or their favorites, the rest of the flock get numbers. Here are a few of the sheep I’m currently working with:

Moses, a Karakul ram living in Texas
Imp, a cross breed ewe living in Northern California 1⁄2 Merino, 1⁄4 Cormo and 1⁄4 Wensleydale
Misty, grazes on the same pastures as Imp She 1⁄2 Corriedale, 1⁄4 Cormo and 1⁄4 Wensleydale
Hanna, a 1-year old Gotland Ewe from Ohio
Edgar and Hanna’s Friend, actually this chap was numbered but the wool is so precious – another Gotland, a gorgeous pure black
Dash, an award winning alpaca from Arizona
Luther Lamb, I received Luther’s first sheared fiber, he is a Lincoln sheep and we look forward to seeing how his fleece looks next year too.

Pouches. Made from wool that I hand dye with plants. Each clutch is envelope style with either an internal pouch, or an inside pocket under the flap for quick access to a phone.
